Old worn mexican tiles must be refinished and restored to get them looking like they use to.

In these before pics, you can see that the old oil based turpentine and linseed oil that was used as a sealer, has failed completely. The Mexican Tiles turned white and cloudy and have begun to peel and blister. This floor was 2000 sq ft and had 3 different levels of Mexican tiles that all failed the same way all through out the 2000 sqft. That’s not normal. Most of the time there’s only a few patches scattered through out, usually in the high traffic areas.

Oil And Water Do Not Mix

Have you ever put a glass on a wooden table or dresser, and when you picked it up, the water ring left a white circle in the finish? Or have you ever tried cleaning oil out of your pots and pans using cold water and it turns white and gooey? That’s because oil and water do not mix! So when you put oil based sealer down on the Mexican terracotta clay floors, it looks great at first, but once you start to clean it and get water on it, it begins to work itself into the scratches that have started to get on the surface of the topical coating sealer. Not to mention the harsh cleaning chemicals and excessive water from plant watering, pet urine, and high traffic areas. Once this starts, it wont stop until it looks like these pics above, and there’s no easy fix at this point…

Detailed Wax Removal Was A Must

As you can see in these pics, we are removing all of the old sealer off of the mexican paver tile and grout.

It was a must that we were very meticulous, not to miss any of that old sealer, because if we do, we will have problems when we go to re-seal it. the old missed sealer will make the newly applied sealer repel and not bond just in those missed areas. Now imagine if we miss a-lot of areas, then we have a problem and would have to remove new sealer we just applied. We then cleaned the floor the same way as we stripped it, on our hands and knees, detailing, getting all the nooks, crannies, edges, corners, and behind doors and closets as well as all those hard to get areas, that machines definitely wouldn’t get.

Top Tier Mexican Paver Refinishing

These pics above of the floors completely stripped, cleaned, and dreied out thoroughly. We applied a high gloss topical sealer, applying as many coats as it took, to begin to repel itself. And at this point you have a nice even consistent shine throughout the paver floors. This hard durable protective barrier will protect the Floors fro future damage. Thus making it really easy for the home owner to keep their pavers clean.
This is why California tile refinishers are top tier.
